Cate Wind is a South African born multidisciplinary artist based between Berlin and New York. Her practice explores themes around the human condition. Through her investigations she aims to question and highlight certain aspects of contemporary life -hoping to make us more aware of ourselves and the environments that we inhabit. Cate is mostly led by the processes of the materials she chooses. Her artwork often plays with light and shadow, creating a sense of movement and fluidity. She has an interest in the translation of the intangible i.e. emotion and energy into physical form. Repetition is also often used as a way to mirror and reflect aspects of nature within her practice. Her artwork provides a visualization of a caught moment or feeling that seeks to give shape to the immaterial.

Cate also has an interest in the acceleration of our current cultural climate. The constant change, consumption, development and chaos present in contemporary society results in a disconnection from ourselves and our direct environments. Adopting this idea within her practice, Cate is probing and questioning consumption and natural connection in the modern world.

Founding the creative platform STUDIO20 Cate is working on a series of events throughout the year.

STUDIO20

Schlesische Str. 20, 10997 Berlin

Your non-exclusive project space to host and present all forms of creativity.

Connection, creation and community is at the forefront of STUDIO20’s ethos.

Our goal is to help nurture a thriving creative community.

Founded in early 2023, STUDIO20 is not a white cube space, but a space to engage with all forms of art and events.

The world needs more art, events and creative collaboration. Let’s make this happen.

You are invited to connect and to be part of STUDIO20‘s growing creative community. We want to remove the elitist attitude that can sometimes be  associated with old structures in the art sphere and to take part in the new direction of the contemporary art scene.

We aim to do this through non-exclusivity and an empfasis on collaboration.

STUDIO20 showcases Wind’s practice and experimentations alongside the work of other emerging and established artists in the form of curated temporary exhibitions and events.

Feel free to reach out. We also accept project proposals.
